Temperzone’s OPA2100 Eco Ultra recently won the prestigious 2020 AIRAH “Product of the Year” Award. The award recognises excellence in product manufacture, with products assessed on their innovation, energy efficiency, sustainability, originality and industry need.
In addition to the AIRAH product of the year, the OPA 2100 Eco Ultra was recognised on an international level earlier in the year. At the CIBSE (CIBSE - Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) awards in the United Kingdom, the OPA 2100 Eco Ultra received a Highly Commended Award in the Thermal Comfort Innovation category. It was also a finalist in the ARBS (Air conditioning, Refrigeration Building Services) Product of the Year awards in Australia.
These awards confirm that the OPA2100 Eco Ultra is a high-tech game changer, specifically designed to focus on moisture content in the air, leading to precise cooling for multiple applications. The 200 kW rooftop package unit features four inverter compressors as well as a patented unique humidity control system “Humidity Intelligence”.
OPA2100’s Humidity Intelligence – adaptive software, measures the temperature and humidity, both indoor and outdoor, while monitoring building occupancy and time. This allows it to continually maintain the desired comfort levels, while optimizing operating efficiency. Its ability to follow patterns, ensures the OPA2100 will choose setting options that correspond to specific weather-heat load combinations.
The Eco Ultra’s in-built Adaptive software can operate with or without external intervention, reacting to the surrounding environment, and changing its operation to continuously generate the desired comfort outcomes. In a nutshell, it understands that the consumer needs and reacts instantly to prevailing conditions, in order to meet those needs. It’s ability to follow patterns, enables the Eco Ultra to choose setting options that correspond to certain weather-heat load combinations.
While the AIRAH and CIBSIE awards recognise the technical excellence of the OPA 2100 Eco Ultra, the commercial success of the product is best demonstrated by the wide market acceptance in Australia and NZ in a very wide range of applications requiring close control.
Naturally, this range continues to evolve with the introduction of the new OPA2110 and OP1410 in 2021.These units will replace the OPA2100, and in terms of award-winning features of the current OPA2100 ECO Ultra, the new models will be taking these products to a whole new level of innovation.

Technical Notes:
The 15 ~ 200kw Air Conditioning rooftop package (OPA_2100_EcoULTRA) is specifically designed to target dew point temperature utilising EC technology for energy conscious clientele. Traditionally air conditioning is controlled solely on temperature however our product is unique as it also focuses on moisture content in air leading to precise cooling applications.
The unit’s equipped with 4 refrigeration systems two of which contain a hot gas reheat coil. BLDC inverter driven compressors and EC permanent magnet fans are standard features. An Onboard unit controller communicates over modbus protocol to all the major components.
The control offers a unique approach based on an intuitive algorithm that adjusts compressor speeds as the room load changes. This approach plays perfectly to part load efficiencies by drastically reducing the energy demand on the building and improving comfort conditions due to curbing out extreme high and low temperature fluctuations when a unit is running to meet the target setpoint.
In addition, the controller has pre-selected optimisation modes that are designed to suit different climates and applications. By tailoring the control strategy based on the climate and application, the unit can adjust and perform at its desired optimum. In addition the unit is available in R32, the first 200kW unit with this option to provide lower GWP solutions to our customers.
