Grand Hotel & Casino, Vanuatu

Replacing a 15 year old chilled water system with VRF, in a working 4 Star hotel is always going to be a challenging project. When the hotel is located in the relative isolation of the Vanuatu, you definitely need an equipment supplier that understands the territory.

Temperzone New Zealand is uniquely placed to service the entire South Pacific, with stock, technical support and commissioning. This really came to the fore with the refurbishment of the Grand Hotel and Casino in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Working with local contractor Supercool, Temperzone replaced all 70 chilled water fan coil units that had been connected to a central chiller, with 70 Hitachi ducted splits. These were then connected to 2 Hitachi VRF outdoor units per floor. They were able to locate all the Hitachi VRF Outdoor Plants on levels 3 and 5.

Because Temperzone carries significant VRF stock levels in Auckland, we had enough product to deliver and complete 3 of the 6 floors immediately the order was placed. In total the project consisted of 80 Hitachi indoor units and 13 Hitachi VRF outdoor units with a total capacity of 517 kW. Included in the project was a re-configuration of the ground floor and reception with Hitachi ducted splits and Hitachi VRF.

The Grand Hotel and Casino, Port Vila’s only central 4-Star Hotel, is the tallest building on the island, comprising 6 levels and 74 rooms, including Penthouse, Harbour and Panorama Suites, Deluxe Harbourview and Harbourview rooms. Each room has floor to ceiling windows, its own private balcony, marble bathrooms and guaranteed views of Port Vila Bay.
