Frost Wash on 'S' series RAC

A revolutionary new wall split cleaning technology exclusively available through Hitachi.

You can depend on cleaner, fresher air all year round.

Frost Wash addresses an issue that had long stumped the air conditioning industry - how to effectively and efficiently clean the inside of room air conditioning units. Trying to clean an indoor unit coil after it has been contaminated with dust and mould is at best difficult and at worst impossible. Frost wash uses a 'prevention is better (and easier) than a cure' approach.

On the basis of keeping the heat exchanger clean is the key to better quality air, Frost Wash actively removes dirt, bacteria and mould that cause odours and reduce air quality before they can cause a problem.

“Frost Wash achieves a 91% reduction* of bacteria and 87 % reduction* of mould in your unit.”

How does it work?

The system cools the heat exchanger down to -15° C forming a thin layer of frost on it from the moisture within the air. While the frost is being formed, it lifts dust particles, mould and bacteria off the heat exchanger and traps it.

Once an adequate layer of frost has been formed, the system then melts the ice, flushing away the trapped dust particles, mould and bacteria hygienically through the drain pan. The unit then thoroughly dries the surfaces inside the unit before resuming normal operation.

A clean heat exchanger not only keeps your unit operating at optimal efficiency, but also keeps the air in your home fresher and cleaner.

Frost Wash was first introduced in the Japanese market, receiving overwhelming positive customer feedback. So much so, the innovators of this development received the "Excellence Award" by the Japan Electrical Manufacturers Association in 2018.

Hitachi “S” series wall splits now come with frost wash cleaning system as a standard inclusion.
