Temperzone believes giving chiller technicians hands on experience in commissioning and diagnosing the new Hitachi Modular chillers is an essential component of their technical support service.
Cesar Angues Solans hands on with a Hitachi Modular Chiller
In May 2016 Temperzone conducted an intensive two day chiller training program that combined participants from all over Australia, Mr Cesar Angues Solans from Hitachi Appliance Products Europe, plus the launch of a revolutionary new chiller simulator developed by Temperzone in Australia. The event was held in the Temperzone Australia Sydney training facility.

The Training Program was coordinated by Temperzone’s Hitachi Technical Manager, Siva Suppramaniam. He described the program as a fantastic opportunity for Australian chiller technicians to learn from the head chiller trainer from Hitachi’s European chiller plant in Barcelona Spain. We were able to draw on Cesar’s extensive technical, theoretical and practical experience.
The program covered a huge range of topics including technical information, features, optional accessories, system selection, Installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and configuring the control system with Modbus and BACnet interface.
Training participants using the "Chiller Simulator"
One of the key features of the training was the use of a “Chiller Simulator” to give participants direct experience across a range of commissioning and diagnostic conditions. The Chiller Simulator was developed and built by a team from Temperzone Australia led by Siva Suppramaniam with assistance from Arvind Singh and Jeff Myles.
Siva said the main benefit of the simulator was the ability to dial in a range of conditions which could arise both at commissioning and during service diagnostics allow the participant to respond accordingly. It would take an average technician, years to observe the range of conditions we can produce in minutes. It’s a huge improvement in the way we train. Siva went on to say that the simulator is now installed in the Sydney Training Room and is available for future training.
The majority of the 22 participants in this training course were Temperzone’s accredited chiller commissioning agents from around Australia.
Allen Air, in Perth, sent two participants. Kim Allen commented:
“On behalf of Marty and myself I wanted to thank you for the opportunity to come over to Sydney and receive the Hitachi chiller training. The training was really well presented. I give it a 10 out of 10!”

Upon completion of the training, the participants were awarded with a certificated to acknowledge their time and effort spend in completing the training course.
Besides providing the training for commissioning agents, this program also allowed our internal technical support staff improve their chiller knowledge. The whole program is an excellent example of Temperzone’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of commissioning, in field service and technical support.
